Marinamaster 8000
For some years, we have been carrying out maintenance dredging for marina owners Yacht Havens Ltd.
They were so pleased with the operation they asked us to design a dredger specifically built to operate in their marinas, including one that requires a dredge depth of 8 metres at high water.
Alan Goodchild carried out the design work in-house and the result was the MarinaMaster 8000 – an innovative design developed from Rufford II, a dredger designed by Alan some years ago.
Alan looked for a specialist dredger builder with experience of smaller cutter suction dredgers and found Italdraghe SpA in Italy who built it to our Goodchild Marine design.
This exceptionally versatile and manoeuvrable dredger is perfect for precision dredging projects in marinas and waterways where disruption needs to be kept to a minimum.
She has an overall length of 14.20 metres, can dredge down to 8.2 metres below the surface and is powered by an Iveco C78 electronic managed diesel engine with a continuous power rating of 300hp at 2,000 rpm.
All features of the MarinaMaster 8000 are designed to be controlled by one crewmember from the sound-proofed, heated, air-conditioned control cabin.
Harbour Dredging Kari Hege
Goodchild Marine realised the potential for a dredger that could dredge in marinas and awkward places, which could build quay headings and drive piles.
Our expertise in dredging and design was recognised and in 2009 we were awarded a contract to design and build Kari Hege, a specialist 20 metre by 10 metre spud-leg pontoon to dredge a new basin in Wells Harbour to support a large offshore wind farm.
Driven by a 200 horsepower Hydromaster propulsion unit, Kari Hege was fitted out with the latest depth monitoring technology and a long-reach JCB back hoe.
Goodchild Marine successfully managed the dredging contract to build the new basin before handing it over to Wells Harbour to continue maintenance dredging.
Dredging heads for Excavators
- We are the UK agent for Italdraghe SpA.
- Our dredging heads can be fitted to any suitable excavator for ad hoc or emergency removal of dredge material or water from a work site.
- Dredging heads incorporate a large, robust high volume pump capable of handling rocks or pieces of debris.
- They can be fitted to any hydraulic excavator in place of the normal bucket.
- The head is powered by the excavator’s own hydraulic system and the only other requirement is suitable discharge piping for the water or dredge material.
Heavy Duty Pumps
A range of dredging pumps is available to cater for dredging, but also for clearing flood water with entrained debris and dirt.
The largest pumps will pump up to 400mm diameter debris without blocking.
Pumps can be supplied as part of a dredging system or as stand-alone diesel-driven pumps for site or emergency work.
